Our first research donation went to the HDGC Research Fund led by Dr. Parry Guilford.

HDGC, or Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer, is a hereditary form of gastric cancer. Research into HDGC is especially important to HardyStrong because of the connection between genetics and gastric cancer risk.

Supporting this work allows us to be part of research focused on better understanding HDGC and the genetic factors behind it.

Surgical Oncology Program Enhancement Fund

In February 2025, HardyStrong donated $15,000 to the Surgical Oncology Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine.

Gastric cancer surgery is a major part of treatment for many patients, and we wanted to support the work being done by Dr. Jeremy Davis and his team.

This gift helps support the program and its continued work in surgical oncology.

In November 2025, we established the HardyStrong Gastric Cancer Surgery Support Fund within the Department of Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina.

This fund supports work related to gastric cancer surgery and is led by Dr. Kevin Roggin.

Having a fund connected directly to HardyStrong means a lot to our family. Justin's experience with gastric cancer is the reason this foundation exists, and we are grateful to have his name connected to work that can help other patients.

HardyStrong donated $10,000 to support an outcome database project for gastroesophageal cancer patients.

The project collects information about patients and their outcomes, giving doctors and researchers more data to work with as they study gastroesophageal cancers.

We were especially interested in supporting this type of work because better information can help doctors understand what patients are experiencing and where there may be opportunities to improve care.

Genetic Counseling & Cancer Predisposition Program

Genetic testing and counseling are a big part of what we want HardyStrong to make more accessible.

Our $10,000 donation supports the Genetic Counseling and Cancer Predisposition Program at Siteman Cancer Center, led by Dr. Patricia Dickson.

Genetic counseling helps people understand their personal and family history and whether they may have an inherited risk for cancer. When a genetic risk is identified, that information can also be important for other members of the family.

For HardyStrong, this is personal. We want more people to have access to the information that can help them understand their cancer risk and make decisions about their health.
